Your color mode is not correct in the custom loading image. It must be in 256 colors and a bitmap if I'm not mistaken. Also make sure it is the same size (dimensions) as the old one and retains the correct file name.

99% of the time that means the modem is not responding. Go into your device manager (system properties > Hardware tab > Device manager) then find the modem and go into its properties. Try querying the modem and see if it responds. Restarting normally fixes this problem. If worse comes to worse reins...

The "steps" (stages) do not cheat software test results. A longer pipeline was used to perform better error checking and to optomize multimedia by providing a few extra instructions for the logic processor. A shorter pipeline greatly increases throughput, although not as efficiently.
