OK, time for me!!
My name's Carl and I'm a sophmore at Plattsburgh State University in Plattsburgh, NY. I'm born and bred in the suburbs of the greatest city in the world--New York City. I'm a native Long Islander, so yea, I say"wawder," "dawg," "cawfee," "Bawstohn," and all those other words that us "Lowng Ilanders" say funny. Nobody famous was born on my birthday (4/13)..but I'm not famous yet.
I'm a Mass Media major at PSU, and I wanna get into radio and radio production. Many people think I'll end up as the next Howard Stern, but I think not. Unfortunatly, the radio station's webcasting is offline, so nobody can hear what an ass I sound like on the air...stupid greedy RIAA
That's pretty much the summary of me. If you wanna find out more about me and my ways, just follow the link below.

Peace everyone, and remember it's better to burnout than to fade away.
Oh yea, Billy Joel, Blue Oyster Cult, Steve Vai, and The Ramones are from Long Island.

DADINK13 -- i thought the RIAA only shut down radio broadcasts for music. If your just a talk radio broadcasting out of your house.. the RIAA has no say in that. Talk all you want. Read more info about the RIAA and small Webcaster radio content hereDADINK13 wrote: Many people think I'll end up as the next Howard Stern, but I think not. Yea that's what it is, but the only problem is that a small college radio station can't afford to pay the royalties. Our station is a 10watt station--which has a broadcast range of only a few miles from the transmitter, which sits on top of the highest point on campus.xWastedMindx wrote:DADINK13 -- i thought the RIAA only shut down radio broadcasts for music. The whole deal about that RIAA royalty thing (for those of you who don't know) is that you have to pay seven cents per song per listener. Accurate logs have to be kept, and I don't know of any computer programs that can log shoutcasting. If there is any discrepency in the logs, we have to pay a fine for that period up to the maximum number of listeners our system supports. If we had the money we'd go ahead and pay the damn royalties.
And by the way...my show is more like a morning-show type of thing. We do play some music when we run out of steam during a conversation.

t0ne, kemosabi son, you are correct that Napster did start the "file sharing revolution" if you would like to call it that. But in general file sharing has been around as long as the internet. Just go on any of your local BBS, or log onto any News server in the world, and you will find tons of things people post for sharing. Apps, and porn mostly. Hell, even email..but not many people do that anymore.t0ne wrote:Kazaa and all that new stuff is 100 times better than napster....but i do have to admit napster did start it all
