I went camping all the time. Me and my friend were the pyromaniancs. We made bonfires that were much bigger than we actually needed.
But nobody complained.

The last time I went camping with my church youth group they would not let me make the fire. (They all knew I was the piro of the group). To top it off they prevented me from adding anything extra to watch it burn. 3 nights of crappy fires they could not get one going. On the last night they gave up trying to make them and gave me perimision to do it. (More so most of the females had left so there safty imput was gone). Every body else was tired of crappy fires. They gave ME perimisoin to make the fire. Took the magic luquided know as lighter fluild and used quit liblly (not like I really need it just wait a bigger flame faster). I had a bigger hotter fire going in 5 mins that they manage the rest of the week. Plus I that night it was PIRO NIGHT. We burned lots of stuff. and ementy 12 pack carrent of coke burns really nicely
