If someone has an illegal copy of Windows XP Corp, most likely the "Devil's 0wn" copy, then SP1 won't install.

Hmm...now that I think about it..
I have a burned copy of WinXP Pro "Corporate Edition" I think it is--all I know is that it never has to be activated. I wonder if you can install SP1 over that. I was planning on installing it on a friends laptop, and I wanna make sure it works before I go and screw with her laptop. Well, my guess is that it should work, but then again, it's Microsoft software..
