Windows 2000 Install Problems.

Post by sweeney »

I recently tried to install Windows 2000 Professional on a Compaq Presario and recieved a blue screen. I'm pretty sure it isn't "the" blue screen. It says:
Stop: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.
Then it goes on to list steps. I tried restarting the computer, I tried following the steps. I even tried reformatting and reinstalling to no avail.

Someone please help.

"The blue screen of death" -- if you don't know what that means, you need help.

Try disabling your Anti-Virus in the BIOS. It gave me that error a few times..and that was the problem.

Or you might want to try, "reburning" the 2000 CD you have.
Now if you have a Legal copy.... you're outa luck.
You could try burning your legal copy and use the copy.. the real one might be messed up or something.

Fatal BSODs.. pfft.. I get all kinds of weird shit now.

But Fatal Errors are nothing more than mismanaged memory..due to poor programming on Microsofts part.
One programs allocated so much RAM, another program tries to use that RAM.. (read and/or write) .. and it throws up a Flag. Hence the BSOD.

i do too. but i was because my card takes advantage of DirectDraw. but i solved it by setting the interrupt affinity to one of my proccesors. i changed the affinity of my snd card (and everything related to sound), tv card, video card (and agp), keyboard, and mouse. so far i have not seen a BSOD since then (this was like a month or 2 ago). but i dont think this will fit in your situation.
