Updated HAL 2.0 specs

Post by DADINK13 »

Yes, the constant work-in-progress has made yet another change in hardware to order. Here's the new list of hardware:

Koolance PC2-601W case with CPU, GPU, and harddrive coolers
Soyo SY-P4I875P DRAGON 2 (Platinum Edition), with sigmaBox
Corsair XMS-series PC3200LLPT DDR memory, 1Gb in dual-channel mode
Intel Pentium 4 2.4C GHz processor (800MHz bus, water-cooled)
ASUS AGP-V8460 GeForce4 Ti 4600 (water-cooled)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
3.5" floppy disk drive
Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM drive
TDK veloCD 40x12x48
Western Digital WD1200JD 120Gb Serial-ATA hard drives x3 (two water-cooled)
Two Green LED fans
12" Dual green cold-cathode lights with green LED switch on exterior of case

I'm still thinking about upgrading my power supply from 475watts to a modular Antec True 550watt supply. It's modular because you can add and remove power cables from it on a need-be basis. The cables are sleeved, not only for looks, but also for better airflow.

Thoughts? Comments? Drool?

I really like that PSU.

But do you really need floopy drive? A cd-rw would be better.

I use my floppy drive all the time. Its a life saver.. really.

Mainly using it now to transfer files from my Windows machine to my Linux box because they can't see each other on the network. (because it's a server)

Also.. before my WinDoze machine crashed... I'm lucky I backed up a Major Website project I'm working on! I used 2 - 1.44MB Floppys and compressed the files using WinRAR.

If I didnt back that up.. I'd be in deep poo. :|

Just because Floppy drives are becoming the "non-standard" doesn't mean you still can't use them. I would much rather use a floppy for small file transfers than burn them to a CD-R or CD-RW ..and possibly waste the CD.. or lessen it's lifespan because you can only burn so many times.

No no.. useless piece of technology in computers would be those little lights that plugin to the power supply and illuminate the case. Those are truely "USELESS" -- At least a floppy drive serves a good purpose.

You Need A Kickass Case With A Removable Window, so there is no real need to "open" up the case, Like Matt Said, You are one Lucky SOB. LOL

Just take the side of your computer case. Then you never have to take it off again. and to keep the airflow up just put next to the side of your desk....

Who needs airflow when I got liquid-cooling??

Plus, the window looks neat, and the lights make it look even neater. So there Ken! :P
