White Noise..

Post by sweeney »

My computer's speakers give off White Noise. I don't know what it is, or how it happened. I put my computer down on a desk, and this horrible static-ey sound comes from the speaker. I didn't bang it or anything. Its not my speakers, because it happens when I plug headphones in, too. The noice seams to be more "complicated" when I have stuff running. The more stuff running, the more complicated. Sounds on my computer don't play through the noise, don't stop the noise, nothing. I'm running XP pro on a Compaq Armada M700. Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated.

uninstall your sound drivers, open up your case, unplug your sound card, plug it back into a different port (if possible), reinstall drivers

thast what i would do.

and if that didnt fix it, its time to reformatt ;)

EDIT:
just reread that your on a compaq.... so if your using a mobo that has the sound buil in, you obviously cant unplug it..... but you can still uninstall and reinstall drivers.
