Hard Drive failure.

without know much about this hard drive, my friend has one, 40 gig, and it had a big time error on it, because he is a moron, but wants me to format it, i had the hardest time formating it, because in the middle of the format it would just freeze. Now i did fdisk, and it froze and i did the CD format with XP SP1... now i finally got it to format, but within the first couple steps of the installation of ANY OS it freeze, is the hard drive about to me the trash or what? anything i can do?

if you can physically hear the hard drive make a hard 'clack' sound, then its time to get a noo one

but from the sounds of it, its more than likely time to get a new one anyways
