CHAT clients not working

i cant get any chatting software to work at my school now. i suspect the ports have been blocked, does anyone know a way to get around this?

http tunneling
proxy
cgi proxy (if its webbased)
or the best choice (xp and up only), mstsc (remote desktop)

i have a web based activex control that lets me connect to my remote desktop from ANY windows based machine! Im always using it.
