ftp

does anyone know of one of those ftp server programs that i can download to serve files on my hd?
i need one that is router friendly cuz my old one wont work with it.

for a router you just need to forward the port that the FTP server is running on to your computer :roll:

That's how I get my Webserver to work with my network. Damn router!

yea... i appreciate the answer, just not the eye rolling.
you don't have to do that to me, im sure alot of people didnt know to foward the ip.

Forward ports 20 and 21 TCP.

EDIT: it would be a good idea to setup your computer to use a static IP so that you don't grab a new one from your router at some point in time.

EDIT2: I currently use www.guildftpd.com but used to use serv-u....and am thinking about making a switch to another program that has its own service.

if you have WinXP Pro or Windows 2000, then just use the IIS ftp server. Its already built into windows.


IIS is what schwippy runs off of. Both the ftp and web server
