Samus Aran: Nintendo's Best Known Character?

As hard as it may be to believe, I have come to terms with the fact that everybody's favorite Power Suit wearing bounty hunter is Nintendo's best known character.

Reasons:
First female lead in a video game
The element of surprise from finishing Metroid you found out Samus was a woman
Metroid games have a perfet element of creepiness combined with incredible control, detail, and artwork
She's a woman

What do you think?

I would have to say Mario. Why you ask?

Because you ask for 'Best known'.

At least for me.. I know when I hear the word Nintendo, the first thing that comes to mind is Mario. He's been there since day 1. He was the first character for Nintendo's NES.

I think people would agree with me on this one.

But of those I go with marrio is the best know since he been around since before the time of Nintendo.

Well, I didn't wanna ask favorite. Mario has been in tons of games, but which games have consistently been good? And linear??

There have been a few Mario games that weren't any good (anybody remember Paper Mario?

).

Wasn't that game on the N64?

I heard it was a great game.. even Gamespot.com gave it a 9.5/10 rating.

Friends are worth squat for opinions. They all like to agree most of the time, disagreeing just brings arguments and nonsense..and no one likes that..

That could explain why I never really got along with them...

But getting back on topic though..
Lets remember how long us Metroid fans had to wait for ONE metroid game. Eight years. Now we got two new ones. How often does a new Mario game come out? More often than that.
