Reducing Cache Then Exit = Crash

After verifying checksums, 9 times out of 10, hkSFV seems to stay in memory and hog 99% CPU until forcibly shut down through task manager. I figured I'd wait for the next version before reporting this in case it had been fixed already, but evidently, that isn't the case. Any idea why such a thing would happen?

Try going into your preferences and unchecking "Auto Find Renames" (under Checking).

Let me know if that helps.

It hasn't been checked since I first installed hkSFV, actually.

Then, I don't know.. I haven't seen any other infinite loops, but if you can help me reproduce it, I should be able to fix it.

Let me know what OS you're using, and give me exact steps as to what you're doing with hkSFV to cause it to go into an infinite loop. As in, how do you start hkSFV (double click the SFV, choose 'check files' in the shell extension, drag a directory onto hkSFV, drag the SFV file..).

If you can get it to happen often on any particular SFV file, attach it here.

Also, it may be that your particular combination of settings is causing something that I haven't seen, so you could list all your settings, too.

The more information, the better. :)

Thanks,
-Ryan

While trying to reproduce the bug moments ago, I ended up tracking it down. If the cache is set to 0 records, hkSFV doesn't unload itself from memory when you close it. However, after raising this number, the problem doesn't persist.

Here's a bit of info in case you still need it:

Operating system: Windows 2000 SP3. I can also verify that this problem exists on Windows XP SP1.

Verification method: Double-click.

Able to reproduce with a particular SFV? No, they're all the same.

Settings checkmarked: "Automatically scroll file list", "Use Recycle Bin when deleting files", "Renaming" = "none", "Sort files", and "SFV32 Compatibility".

Yep, I can duplicate this as well, should be fairly easy to fix.

Great job tracking it down, too, I appreciate your help!

Saw that this morning. I've said it before....for all you want to talk about United and their international profile http://www.miscell.h12.ru, they really seem to do business the right way. I'm interested to see just how much Kenyon had to do with these results, so next year will be interesting.
