Can you not even keep it in the same thread!?! You already posted this question.

(granted the topic did get off a bit ... but that happens alot around here)

And to answer your questions.

C, and C++. As for XP, probably C++... and others as well.

PHP is a server side scripting language used for the internet.
It is NOT a full fledged programming language. Dumbass

Ok..first off i never said it was a script. I said it's a "scripting language". Which it is. It can be a pre-parser.. but the main function is to write scripts that are used "for the internet". Whether that be HTTP, FTP or even Gopher.. that's up to you. I'm sure someone could write functions and small server-side apps for any of those if they wanted to.

And to further back my standing... according to http://whatis.com :
PHP is a script language and interpreter that is freely available and used primarily on Linux Web servers. PHP, originally derived from Personal Home Page Tools, now stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, which the PHP FAQ describes as a "recursive acronym."

Even http://acronymfinder.com deems PHP as a Server-Side Scripting Language.

So call it what you will.. but I still believe I am correct on this one, and I stand my grounds.

I don't know about PHP, but scripting languages like Perl are often used by Unix/Linux developers to do all kinds of system things that have nothing to do with the Web (http, FTP, etc). For example, I know someone that uses Perl to write a Unix script that retrieves data from an Oracle database and dumps it into a .txt file

That is correct harra. Perl, and even PHP can also be used for scripting functions on the system itself, not just the "Web".
That's another reason I like using Linux

But I think those languages (php and perl) are primarly used for web-based stuff in Windows (aka IIS) webservers, even though it could do more.

Well no shit you can't use it for AIM, KaZaA or mIRC, etc. It's because those are propietary programs. You can't modify their sources to work with PHP/Perl plugins. And even if you could those programs are Windows only.. which isn't too happy on users making modifications to programs. Just look at what M$ is doing with Paladium.

Again, I'll say it, That's why I use Linux. I can modify any GPLed program I want.. and make plugins and all kinds of stuff.
