aim: links not working

Post by iSteve530 »

When browsing a website that uses "aim:goim?screenname=sn&message=Hi" or other aim: commands, it does not work with AIM+ 2.2. I have tried AIM without AIM+ in use and the links work, so it must be AIM+. Anyhow, I tried with both beta's since I did not until now upgrade to AIM 4.8.2768. I am not cloning, just so you know, nor do I have any of those left over clone specific aim files.

I am using Windows XP (using windows update, so all latest fixes)

Are you running a clone?

Or, the real question is, have you run a clone "recently"?

I think the answer to both of your questions is 'no.'

I knew that would be the first question as a response to my post. That't why I included the answers. Anyhow, just to reiterate, not running a clone, and have not run a clone in a while.

NEW:
One more thing I noticed, when I do click an aim: hyperlink, my buddy list comes up if minimized and gains focus. It just doesn't carry out the specific command such as enter at chat room (shrug), open up an im for someone, enter away state, or change my buddy icon.

Sorry iSteve530, I must have just been zoned out when I read it..

I'm getting the exact same behavior you described, every single time, so I should be able to fix it without too much of a problem.

In the meantime, I hope this doesn't bug you too much :).

Ryan,
Doesn't bug me at all. I just by accident discovered it and decided to let you know. I think those aim links are quite useless. However, they work nice in some aim of the latest aim bots.

As for reading my post when in lack of sleep, that's fine. I probally posted it that way as well. Just shows your dedication. :D

i'm experiencing the same problem. It just brings my buddylist to focus. It would be such a nuisance, except a program I wrote displays the current winamp song playing into an away message, and for simplicity i just sent the thing as a url to update AIM. Now it doesnt work, rendering my program worthless to me (unless i get off my lazy ass and change its implementation).
