Remove Default Away Messages

Post by Guest »

Is there a way to permanently delete the "Default" and "Playing Game" away messages? Every time you delete them, they re-appear! They are both annoying.

There is a registry fix for this....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger (TM)\CurrentVersion\Users\puresnow310\IAmGoneList --->
delete GoneMsg0

...and of course, as I forgot to mention, you would replace my screenname with yours....

For some reason this doesn't work with the newer versions of AIM. I have been removing the standard away messages for a long time now via the registry. I can get rid of all of them except the Playing Game one now. I have deleted all registry entries with it and it still shows up in the away list.

I think it should be added with the upcoming version of AIM+, if possible. :D

hey, i get really annoyed by those away messages too, but what i did was edit it. i went into preferences and edited the contents of the "playing game" away message. it doesnt bother me now because it has my own personalized message in it.

i really dont see a need to spend time on fixing somthing as small as that. its better to have a big feature out (to attract more people to AIM+) and then worry about fixing bugs with it after its released. keep up the good work, big-o
