5 Major cities without power

Post by fuuucckkers »

In case you haven't heard.. New York City, Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto, Ottawa, and other cities as well... are all without power. It's supposedly caused by a power overload, but seems a little too coincidental to me

http://cnn.com --front page. read about it there.

It's a huge grid that services a lot of major areas in the Northeast that overloaded. We lost power here in New Jersey for only a couple of minutes, and the closer you get to New York City the less stable the power is.

It did reach a ways away. I lost power for about 15 mins when it happened. My hometown is still without power though. Both of which are within northwest Ohio, although my hometown is close to "central" Ohio. I feel bad for those who are still without it.

i live an 60 miles north of nyc, got power back at about 8, lost it at about 4:15. it was supposedly caused by a lightning strike at a power plant in canada, near niagra falls. that resulted in the failure of the entire north eastern grid.
please stop. now.

I only live about 45 min. from NYC. My town was only affected for about 10 seconds (right at 4:11), however, all of the neighboring towns didn't get power back till about 8:30.... How odd...

My location says PA, that's during the school year...., I'm talking NJ.

The Rochester, NY area was out, but we never lost power in diffrent places (You could have power at your house but not accross the street all over the place).

At around 11:30/12 we gained power back, after some place in Albany gave the power company permission to give power back to around half of its customers..

I was very far away from you all. Hell I did not even find out about it until a few hours after it happen because I was hanging out at my friend Jessi house. When her mom came home she told us to to turn on the TV and listen to the news. *I think that was about 5 CST. I though the picture of all the people walking out of NY look pretty cool.

Mwahaha.. glad I dont live there.

But strangly enough, I was reading an article in todays St Petersburg Times newspaper.. and they said even Florida is on the same power grid that went down on Thursday. Only difference is we produce much of our own electricity, and don't depend on the buying and selling of it to keep ourselves powered. It said roughly 10% of the entire state of Florida's power is from other sources other than our own. So even in the event of a major catasrophe (Hurricane, etc)... it's almost certain we would keep our power..

Looks like you need to change your location Carl ;)

And when it happened, first thing that came to mind was "Damn Carl....then I was like...wait hes not there...then I was like.....wait...Anthony is in NY....DAMN!!!!!"

But fortunately power was restored in 24 hrs.....so its not THAT bad.......

Anthony should rant about power companies...
