The comp I'm on right now... 1 word: Ugh. 100Mhz.... 80 megs RAM. The BIOS is so old i cant have a partition higher than 900 megs. This thing is literally spare parts.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, our first computer was an IBM PS2-30. I think it was a 12MHz 80286 running (:o) Windows 2.11. with a 20Mb hard drive.Yankskm51 wrote:The comp I'm on right now... 1 word: Ugh. 100Mhz.... 80 megs RAM. I have an old computer far worse than yours. It's an old 486 DX2. 66MHz!! It doesnt even have a "pentium" processor in it.Yankskm51 wrote:The comp I'm on right now... 1 word: Ugh. 100Mhz.... 80 megs RAM. The BIOS is so old i cant have a partition higher than 900 megs. It has 8MB SIMM RAM (Yeah I bet most of you new computer kids dont know about the SIMM memory modules.) Each memory module is 2MB each, all 4 slots were taken up.
The harddrive is 40MB..and it's about the size of one of todays CD-Rom drives. It even has a big huge 5 1/3 hard disk drive. (Those big black disks)
That was my first computer... aah.. I used to love that thing.. hehe. USED to be top of the line ..fastest thing i always thought.
I can beat that! In my closet, I have a still-functional Mac Classic II From 1991. 33 MHz Motorola 68030 processor, 4 MB RAM, 70 MB HDD, and a 9-in black and white (not grayscale, kids) integral display at a "high-resolution" (as the manual states) of 512x342.xWastedMindx wrote:I have an old computer far worse than yours. what i live with.
well snice my compaq internet pc is all $#@*ed up i am on my moms dell dimension 8100, if she only would have waited another year she could have had xp and better stuff, but it still has every thing i need. It had windows Me . hopefully i will be getting xp on it christmass. my compaq was an INTERNET ONLY pc, got it back in 98, pentium 2 with nothing but an added cd burner and standard dvd drive, the thing was not working too well with my 200 songs and all the other messengers and stuff so i formated every thing and added windows 2000 pro and it worked really good. my moms dell cost $2,000 about a 2 years ago. and living in a place where i bet is the slowest internet connection on earth is. my highest connection speed on a good days has been 26,400 bps. there will prob. be no DSL or and type of internet connection like that for at least 5 years.
