Haveing a giant block list, you can do this by saving a buddy list and only checking off privacy preferences, of those screenname's that are always instant messaging us people to "come check out my naked naked webcam baby!" HA----im sick of it. this way everybody would have them blocked and we'd put them out of business.

That happens on AIM too? (not that it surprises me). I guess I am one of the lucky few that has only exprienced this on Yahoo.

If you go to My AIM / Edit Profile and make sure the 'Allow People to Search for Me' box is unchecked, most of the porn bots on AIM will not be able to find you.

What you say is true Mark, but what about the bots in the AIM chat rooms? They somehow scan the name list of the room, and everyone gets IM's from them as well ..

I've actually never had that happen to me. I guess because I dont have search for me enabled as Mark said and I never go in AIM chatrooms except maybe once in a blue moon.

I think that I, like most people, relized all too late that we should clear our search fields. I think that "the pots" (porn bots) as i feel like calling them, have lists and lists of screen names that they share and constantly make new screen names so that they can attack us yet again. I have gotten message's from so many pots named Marie w/ sum number. THE POTS ARE OUT TO GET US AND MUST BE STOPPED. Blanking your search fields won't help since they allready have u on their hit list. I don't want to go through the grueling task of switching my scren name and telling everyone.

-Does anyone know what site the POTS are from? Or are they from all different sites?

-IF ANYONE WANTS TO EXCHANGE BLOCK LISTS WITH ME I WOULD BE HAPPY TO, just IM me at Bronze1052, and i'll send u it via direct connection. I have built up a pretty good list of POTS, and would like yours also.

-If only aim+ did it for us....with their programming powers if they could hunt down all the POTS and DESTROY THEM!!!!!

I actually had the search thing enabled for years, and only recently did the porn bots find me. After I cleared everything out and made myself unavailable for searching, I haven't had any trouble from your pots (knock on wood).

Hey Bronze.. if you would like to exchange block lists with me... I have my list full, it wont let me add anymore names to the list. I think that may be of some help...but then of course you wont be able to add anymore to your list .... hrmm...

IDEA!! Is there anyway that you could increase the number of available users to be blocked ??(Make it infinite) Im sure its there somewhere in the AIM coding. That may be of some help to us ..

I'm not sure if it's possible to change or not, but if you could tell me how many the maximum is I could find it alot faster

hmmm this hasent been a problem for me but some of my friends have had the same problem my search field has never been checked off so they can find me i guess i am lucky

I also got one from "cutiebaby95976"! They are really annoying! Let's hope AIM+ helps!

I GOT IT !!!! Max number of users blocked!!

After countless times trying to count all the users in my Privacy settings' blocklist... heh.. (I kept messing up, and had to restart counting all over again) I found out the magic number is set to 200 names.

And I didnt even have to count them.. I just clikced the button Add Name to add it to my block list and a popup message box appeared that said ...

"You cannot add another name to this list."
"This list is limited to 200 names."

Wish I would've figured that out before trying to count 200 names about 10 different times

AHH!!! Its a client side block! Theres gotta be a reg mod to let ya get more.

Sorry to say there isnt a number in the registry to change it..I've already looked many times. It might be a binary value or something..but its not just a key like the max buddies.
