Check it out on the bottom of the forums.
In total 1902 users have visited this site today :: 38 Registered, 1 Hidden and 1863 Guests , 185 of them within the last hour.
Is that correct?? I've never seen the number that high before.
Where did the user Guests spike originate from? (Check those page stats!)

most likely it was that a lot of people came and stayed looking around here and they had more than one IP address...... the class where theyre IP changes from like 123.3.3.1 to 123.3.3.2 to 123.3.3.3 etc etc...... i forget what class name that one is, but i know that those addressed people can really rank up stats high and fast

The site I administer suddenly got a huge spike in Guests being on the board and we discovered that we have been invaded by web-bots. Some were the bots that search engines use, some were bots that we thought were meant to try and harvest e-mail addresses.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is what happened here or there was some kind of DoS attack where a bunch of hits were being genereated from different IP addresses

the last thing that we need right now is web bot jacking our email addresses. I would say that I could be one of the multiple guess that come up because my IP changes but I an a register uses and I auto log in so am guessing the prevent me or any other register uses from poping up more than one time

The email bots can't get our email address. You can thank Plasma for that ;).

That was the same answer my admin told me. The e-mail addresses are hidden. That doesn't mean that bots don't stop by looking for them because some people are not smart and put their e-mail addresses in their signatures or on a post somewhere.

I have not got one piece of spam mail yet. My "spaminator" (sp) seems to be doing a great job (I would at least a email posted in a WHOIS would get a lot of spam).
