This Winamp plug-in, by Nullsoft, removes the banner ads from AOL Instant Messenger. To install, just put the vis_aimazing.dll in your WinampPlugins directory, and select AIMazing from the Visualization section of the preferences.

Now, instead of the AIM banners, you will see the Winamp Oscilliscope playing along with your mp3's!
