start MySQL 3.23 on boot

is there any way i can start MySQL 3.x on bootime? im running redhat linux 7.0 and the MySQL password is different than my root password. i want mysql to start in runlevel 3, i tried ln -s but it doesnt work (it says mysqld ended), and i tried editing it but it didnt work either. ne1 have ne ideas?
