hkSFV v2.0.1 (Build 84)
Bytecc ME-720U2 3.5" External HDD Enclosure (USB2.0)
Maxtor DiamondMax 9 60GB HDD
Windows 2000 SP1a
I am presently using several USB 2.0 External Enclosures all of the same brand and model, but different HDDs.
It seems that when I use hkSFV to do a SFV check, a file can sometimes fail, or pass (Seems pretty random). If I copy the file back to my HDD, it passes.
Anyone else having problems with USB Drives or other USB Storage Devices?

I'm glad page is back.. lets home there will also be a new improved version which will solve this problem..
Re: hkSFV and USB2.0 HDD Errors
This is not a problem with hkSFV. Some Bytecc (and other brand) external ATA enclosures use a buggy USB to ATA chip. They cause random data corruption during transfers when connected to certain host controllers, such as NVIDIA nForce2. The reality, unfortunately, is that much of your data stored on those drives may be compromised.
There does seem to be a solution, however. Use an external USB hub between the host and the device. I've been able to eliminate the random data corruption between my nForce2 hosts and Bytecc external enclosures that way.
