Can not play DVDs

My laptop will not play DVD any more. Windows media play is telling me I dont have the right stuff install to play it. So I downloaded WinDVD. (I own the software but it back home in houston) I got not sound in WinDVD and Microsoft media player told me the same BS t
that Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
some help would be nice

Oh yeah I could play DVD on my laptop before I reformated it

Do you have a system restore disk?

They do wonders.

well i manage to it to play it but it took a lot of tricky to do it. Yeah I have my system restore disk but it does not have those drivers and software on it. Besides I dont want to restore myh computer back to day one

Try using PowerDVD. It's made by a company called CyberLink.

I used to have it on my Windows 98 machine, and it came bundled with my Pioneer DVD drive.. it's rather nice. :)
