As far as I know you can't. Every AIM add-on is having this problem from AIMastupid to DeadAIM to Middle_Man...

The solution? Go back to 4.8.x. I believe there is a "good" version of 5.2.x, but I don't know which one it is. It's the one Jon uses (If at all).

If you download that 'hosts' file from the Kazaa Lite page www.kazaalite.tk it will block the AIM servers for you.

you have to turn off the ADVERT.OCM file load in the aol.odl file and rename it

the only difference i found was that my advert.ocm was advert.oc_ which i renamed to advert.old

.....instructions from the site...
Using a text editor (notepad is fine), open aim.odl. Look for the following:

{
load_ocm advert required
}
on_group(11)
{
load_ocm advert required
}

Simply remove the two "required" notations and save the file, then close it.

Now, find advert.ocm -it should be located in C:\Program Files\AIM\ , or a similar folder. Rename the file advert.bak (in case AOL makes a change in the log in procedure that requires the file. If this should happen, simply rename the file back to advert.ocm). Launch AIM.
...............

i'll update this if i find it doesn't work ..

I have heard the stupid trailers like 2 times only. but most of the time I keep the AIM window closed. It never is in my task mangers unless I am really quickly grabing a screen name off of it to IM most of the time I close it. If a trailer starts playing just hit the "X" in the corner and it stops it.

I haven't heard one in a while, but they always seemed to come at night for me.

I used to use 5.2.3139 and never heard one, when others with versions later than that, were hearing them. Then again, they seem very sporadic, so I'm not sure if I gave AIM the opportunity on 5.2.3139 to play the ad for me.

I updated to 5.2.3292 a few weeks after the new ads were being noticed, and a couple weeks after I updated, I heard my first one.

BUT...I might not have been around when some of the ads were being played and/or my volume might've been down.

If you want to give 5.2.3139 a whirl, here's the link to it-
ftp://ftp.newaol.com/aimgen/73010/Insta ... 2.3139.exe

I still think that's one of the better, if not the best, version that the 5.2 series has to offer. 5.5 still has issues that 5.2 had, so don't feel as if you're missing out on anything spectacular except some different bugs ;)

aight thanks. I've been using 5.2.3292 for awhile and I only seem to get those add's maybe once a day or so. Those ads are stupid and annoying and aol should be shot for allowing them in there.

EDIT: Does anyone know where this "hosts" file can be found...i remember seeing it on the kazaa lite site but when i looked today i couldnt find it.[/b]

I think he means Supertrick...
http://doa2.host.sk/help/supertrick.htm

Personally I've never downloaded it and Have always just gone with whatever K++ has to offer. I;m pretty sure it's built in to K++ since version 2.1 or something, don't know where the download for Supertrick went.

That's interesting though, glad Axilla brought that up. Scroll down near the bottom and it shows you how to manually add websites. I guess you'd just have to add the aim.com and aol.com domains, I don't know of all AOL's domain names...I bet there are about 20 or so :/ newaol.com is another

Too bad we don't know WHICH domain the ads come from :(

Yes we do... Well people do anyways...

As far as being part of Kazaa Lite... Kinda... Kazaa Lite just installs the extra features and makes it work from Kazaa, but there still stand alone per say.
