1) make sure your computer is on!
2) click the start button, then click run on the menu that pops up
3) type 'control panel' in the box that pops up (don't type the quotes)
4) press enter
5) when the control panel opens, find the add/remove programs icon
6) double-click it
7) on the add/remove programs list, find AOL Instant Messenger
8) click on AOL Instant Messenger, then click the remove button (this will remove AIM and you will lose your AIM settings, but that's just too bad)
9) follow the on-screen instructions for removing AIM
10) close the add/remove programs dialog and the control panel window
11) right-click the link provided by anthony (PhaseDMA)
12) on the context menu click "save target as"
13) on the save as dialog, click the 'save in' drop-down menu and select desktop
14) click the save button
15) on your desktop there will be an icon called Install_AIM_4.8.2790.exe or something to that effect
16) double-click that icon
17) follow the onscreen instructions for installing AIM
18) upon completion of the installation, click on the install aim icon on your desktop again, hold the shift key for approximately 1 second and then push the delete key (without releasing shift), then release both keys
19) press Yes on the deletion confirmation dialog box

-----try running AIM+ and if it works ok, then stop here-----

if AIM+ crashed when you ran it:

20) uninstall AIM+ using the same method you used to uninstall AIM
21) go to the AIM+ download page and download and install AIM+ again

p.s. if youre too stupid to figure it out with those directions then click start, then run, and type format c: in the dialog and press enter. this will delete all the data on your computer...and youd deserve it for being so stupid

Can you be more clear on step 1? I always have had problems turning on my computer.

1) make sure your computer is on
-a) locate the power cord, which should either be black or gray and have a 3-prong male-type plug at one end and a female-type connector at the other
-b) make sure the female connection is fastened to your computer in the only place it fits, and the male end is plugged into a 120-volt or compatible AC power source
-c) locate the master power switch on your computer's case (it might not have one...if it does it will be on the back or side of the case...ON will be indicated by a 1 or the word ON, OFF will be indicated by a 0 or the word OFF). this switch must be at the ON position in order for your computer to function
-d) locate the power button (this is usually on the front of your computer and so blatant even the legally blind can see it). push the power button
-e) ensure your monitor is attached to a power source in the same manner as steps (a) and (b)
-f) ensure your monitor is attached to your computer's graphics output (the only thing it'll plug into)
-f) use the power button/switch on your monitor to turn it on
