message delay

ok all of a sudden my AIM starts pausing my messages for like 3 -5 seconds before it sends them. its really buggin me n i dnt kno wat it is from. PLEASE HELP. also i tried reinstallin AIM n AIM+ but i dnt kno wat is doing it or if another program is interfering.

That would be server lag..

Meaning it's caused by AIM.. and AOL.

It's probably only temporary. For now, deal with it.

well the thing is that its been going on for over a week n i have XP for windows n my sisters account isnt doing it so i dnt kno wat the deal is

Try changing the address that your AIM connects to.

in ytour aim preferences, click the Connecction button, and first try the 'auto configure' thingy

did urs work for a while then all of a sudden just start delaying the messages even tho ur computer is supposed to be fast?

Mine started doing this two days ago too. My accounts work elsewhere and the ResNet guys at my school can't seem to figure it out either. I cant even carry on a conversation with this delay. I have tried downloading every version of AIM I can find and it the problem still persists.

its your ISP's connection to aol.


nothing you can do about it except call up your isp and ask what the hell's up with their service that yourr paying for

It's not the isp. My university provides the internet for us and we've tried connecting other computers to my wall jack and the problem still persists. The problem resides inside my computer somewhere but no one can seem to figure out what the hell that problem is. thank you trying to help though. it's appreciated. ugh what a mess this whole thing is

er.. wait, the problem DOES NOT occur when we've hooked other computers to my wall jack. I confused myself for a minute there. Apparently it's just my pc that's doing this.

..........although ive been known to reformat simply cause something like the compuserve logo got overlayed onto my IE ;)
