if you had some way of knowing whether or not timestamps were currently on, if they are off you could just add however much that they might add if they were on to the size and just clear it a few lines early to avoid that problem

Perhaps by changing AIM+ to log in the AIM 4.4 way (at window closure), you whould get around the limit. the problem is that the 1024 thing is an issue with the AIM protocol; the AIM server will simply reject the message and quite possibly disconnect you from the server if what is sent does not conform to the protocol
