Big sombrero, we've said it once, and we'll say it again...Big-O makes everything an OPTION. If you don't want it, just turn the option off. I won't personally use it either, but my sister and mother share a computer, as well as many of my friends with their parents. Not everyone is fortunate enough...

We were talking about this kind of thing in another post. It's about synchronizing buddy lists and preferences.

I think that's something that would be better solved by AOL themselves, although they don't seem to care what their users want all that much. I think that this would require too much coding for it to only work with AIM+ users that use this code in their away messages.

Sure you can do that, but you get that nasty "could not set away state" message every time you IM someone.

Plasma, maybe you could send that kind of stuff in a private message next time? I think most of us are of legal age to view adult content, but I wouldn't want Big-O to get in trouble for having forums that have links to sites with illegal content and pornography.

Try running scandisk to see if you have any bad sectors on your hard drive. If you are running Windows XP or 2000, try disabling drive indexing.

I have no had any problems with memory usage in Windows XP either. Perhaps you should try re-installing it if you haven't already. And make sure you have the most current version of AIM which is 4.8.2790. I know you said you have had this problem on several versions, but I don't know which versions ...

A few questions....

First of all, did you install AIM 5.0 when you re-formatted? And secondly, did you install an ancient version of AIM that might not work with AIM+?

What that option actually means is that it will not clone if you open it up from a shortcut. An example being that although you can still clone from within AIM by clicking the + symbol or using the AIM+ menu , you cannot open another instance by clicking a desktop shortcut and such. Maybe it should ...

lol don't scare him like that. Kazaa is not a virus, but it does have spyware in it and is very very evil. I use kazaalite myself also and like it much more.

Wow I just tried out buddy tools for the heck of it, and it's basically a gigantic advertisement for extreme messenger.

I do understand that some people like the idea of privacy online, and at times I do. I think that a possible feature request after AIM+ is made compatable with AIM 5 would be the ability to disable the typing indicator if AOL does not add this themselves. I'm a pretty straightforward person and don'...

I was wondering the same thing as you are killcrap. I'm too scared to download AIM 5. When I saw the screenshots I grabbed my blanket and hid in the closet. Well not really but my initial shock was because I thought that you HAD to have ads covering your buddy list. I am curious if that typing indic...

Personally I would be happy with a mute button, I can deal without volume control. Just replace the AIM today button with something, it's not like anyone uses it anyways. 8)

If you want to get on IRC, just use an IRC client. If you want all in one, use trillian, although that would mean you couldn't use AIM+ *gasp*
