i use a program called AutoIT to do all the 'hot keys' / 'macros' ill ever need.. seperate prog.. but it works fro me..

do a search on google.com for it..

The multi-file approach is good because you can backup portions of the list at your leasure, and you can search by day if you know around when a conversation happened. One big logfile is much easier to corrupt if the comp is having issues, etc, too.
