OK...I just deleted winamp and I did a search on my comp to see if there was anything on my comp left over and I found this file called winampw so I deleted and now kazaa,windows media player and alot of others don't work I get this error "Windows cannot find winampw.exe This program is needed for opening files of type "Application"....one thing I tried to do was reinstall winamp and when it was done I got the same error!!!I need help!

Well for one thing, there's no such file called WinampW.exe within a Winamp install. POSSIBLY the version 3, but I sure as hell won't use it.

Even if that file was still there, it should not affect other programs to that nature. WMP and Kazaa, and other programs should not be using any Winamp files. Winamp doesn't share files with other applications, system files or otherwise.

Well I couldn't fix the problem so I just reformated... :x !!!

WinampW is a file put there by a virus (Optix Pro 10). It associates itself with EXE's so that it runs whenever you try to open the application. After deleting the file, you only would have needed to make a small change in the registry to fix it.

Before my last reformat, my winamp used to be "winampa.exe" could that have been the same virus?

No, winampa is part of winamp. It's the "Winamp Agent".
