raising resolution to a whole new level

Post by ashtray »

i'm using an nvidia 64mb ti 4200. right now i'm running the resolution at 1280 by 1024 @32 bit, but i want to increase it (the resolution.) any idea how? when i recently reformatted, using the basic windows vga drivers, i got to an ideal in the 1300 range, but i also want to keep the nvidia software for transparencies and multi-monitor management. basically, is there a way to "crack" the drivers to get beyond the limits?
please stop. now.

you can only raise the resolution for as far as your Monitor AND video card will allow.

If you can't get your resolution any higher and its a new video card.. it's the monitor that needs upgrading.

try updating the drivers to the latest from nvidia.com. i think its 44.03 right now. usually its the monitor limiting you. my GeForce2 MX can go up to 1600x1200x32 but my monitor's limit is 1280x1024x32. w/ my xp drivers, i could go up to 1600x1200 but when i did my monitor refused to display nething...

I think most monitor out there limit you to 1280x1024x32. That as far as I see most of the monitor I want can go (like the 18.1 inch LCD I want). Yeah i know you can get some that can go higher but then you have to look into the cost of that 2

I don't think that is true -- my cheap Dell M781s (or something like that) allows me to go as high as 1600x1200.
