You could have simply set it lower to see if that would have a effect first :shrug:.

Why is it whenever I add more than 200 buddies, it resets to 200. For example I imported 20 buddies, and it loads, but it then resets to 200. Why's that? I am using the latest beta of 5.x

I'm talking about the latest beta of 5.x, You can add 220 buddies, but it won't for me, why?

Because you can't. AIM has made it like this. They are not going to put a "bug" into it after it works the way they want.

alright i found this expliot to add more than 200 buddies on ur buddylist. its really simple. all u gotta do is save ur buddy list. then right click on the saved buddylist. then go to Edit. when u get in the notepad u see that if u go down theres ur buddies some might have ""'s around them but you do not need to add them. just put the buddies sn u want in there and save it. then load it and there you go. (note: it will still say u only have 200 but if u check u got more. i tested it by putting all my buddies in a notepad and loading them into those useful crackers. haha) if u need any help u can IM me on FoGaL. latR

i tried that once, i think it fixes itsself after you sign off then back on. but i tried it a long time ago so it might work now

I believe there are two issues:
1) If you somehow manage to get more then 200 buddies on at the same time it only will display the first 200
2) After you log off it reverts back

it takes off the most recently added ones or the bottem ones of the list.

Buddy lists are stores server side.
So as everyone else just said, once you sign off, and back on.... AIM retrieves the buddy list from the AIM servers, thus reverting it all back to the way it was before you made the changes.
