Working Results File

Post by cetae »

This is what brought me to hkSFV, then i found out that it didn't work.

Otherwise I love the program, great interface.

I can't wait for the new release, hopefully sooner than later though.

Result file creation in 1.0 was the cause of most of its crashes, so leaving it out didn't seem like a great loss this time around.

I wrote 2.0 with result file creation in mind, though, and it shouldn't be too hard to finish up, since there seems to be a good demand for it -- but there was so much I wanted to do for 2.0.

If you have specific ideas about the kinds of result file/dir creation you want, or how it should work, post here to let me know now and I'll try to include this in the next release.

If you have ever used cSFVse then you may be familiar with it's info folders creation upon completion of the check, if not here is a screen shot of the configuration dialog. Something very similar to this would give me reason enough to completely abandon it for hkSFV :)

The only gripe I have about cSFV's folder creation is that it does not display percentages in the folder name based on the results. If yours could that would take the cake. Having the option to name either a folder or a blank file as the results would also be a very good thing.

by "display percentages in the folder name based on the results", is this what you mean..?

Say you're checking "Guns_n_Roses-Live_at_19th_MTV_VMA-2002-OMA", and it's 100% complete, the folder itself would be renamed, to something like "Guns_n_Roses-Live_at_19th_MTV_VMA-2002-OMA {100%}"..?

No, I don't mean the folder itself will be renamed, I mean a new file (or folder) within the parent folder will be created with the stats of the files. Here is an example of what the dir w/ files inside would look like:

Children_Of_Bodom-Follow_The_Reaper_(Limited_Digipak)-2000-RDA
  • -=[80%][########--][cXb]=-
    00-childen_of_bodom-follow_the_reaper_(limited_digipak)-2000-rda.m3u
    00-childen_of_bodom-follow_the_reaper_(limited_digipak)-2000-rda.nfo
    00-childen_of_bodom-follow_the_reaper_(limited_digipak)-2000-rda.sfv
    01-childen_of_bodom-follow_the_reaper-rda.mp3
    02-childen_of_bodom-bodom_after_midnight-rda.mp3
    03-childen_of_bodom-children_of_decadence-rda.mp3
    04-childen_of_bodom-everytime_i_die-rda.mp3.missing
    05-childen_of_bodom-mask_of_sanity-rda.mp3
    06-childen_of_bodom-taste_of_my_scythe-rda.mp3
    07-childen_of_bodom-hate_me-rda.mp3
    08-childen_of_bodom-northern_comfort-rda.mp3
    09-childen_of_bodom-kissing_the_shadows-rda.mp3
    10-childen_of_bodom-dont_stop_at_the_top-rda.mp3.missing

OK, I understand what you mean, now. :)

This feature is planned to be in the next release of hkSFV - it's been one of the most consistently requested features that we still don't have.

Just make sure that the text on the folder can be customized. :D

I'd like to see a Results text file that stores the list of all the non-good files from the SFV check. IMHO, that'd be an EXCELLENT feature, and that would end my feature request list. Other than that, hkSFV ROCKS!! Thanks!
