phpBB mods

Post by Big-O Ryan »

I installed a handful of phpBB mods, recently. I think we'll keep some -- mostly small stuff, but some that will might prove useful..

- file attachments (which also means you can attach an image in include (inline) with your post, without uploading it somewhere else..)

- users who visited today mod (bottom of the main index page)

- news [i'm not done with this one yet. but when it's done, you won't be able to miss it, hopefully]

- mouse-over topic preview (when you're viewing the contents of a forum, just hold your mouse over the link to a thread and it'll show you some of the latest post in a tooltip)

Some behind-the-scenes stuff, too - I think that about covers it.

ahhhh!

well, thats all cool and stuff.... but half of us who have a board style set, like me (digital twilight), cant post!

i think its the file attachment add on..... i had to switch styles to post all of my messages.

here, lemme go get the error message it gave me real quick.........

ok, this is what i get when im using the digitaltwilight style......

Template->make_filename(): Error - file ./templates/digitaltwilight/posting_attach_body.tpl does not exist

so yea... it is the file attachment add on. is the soloution as east as just putting a copy of it in the individual styles folders?

i really hope this is an easy fix..... i honestly CANT STAND the sub silver crap default they give ya

(see it just WAY too much on the net)

All of the mods are very helpfull, or if not helpfull at least intresting. The attachment mod will probably be used a lot.

While we're discussing changes to the forums (and I'm not trying to steal the thread just looking for a one shot reply then we can talk about the mods again) I noticed that you've changed the ranks. What are they now and what's after Extreme Groupie?

Plasma: The other styles should be working now. It took no less than 2 hours to do it, but they should be all up to speed. Enjoy!

Jester: I don't beleive we'd made any changes to the rankings yet..

The reason I said that is because 75 posts used to be "Veteran"... Something changed

Ahh.. looks like Mark changed the numbers around, but not too much. We obviously still don't have another dot, or a rank about Extreme Groupie.

I'm done modding, this doesn't have to do with mods.

See Webpage speed and downtime.

OK, we've got news now (I'm sure you noticed - it's intentionally hard to miss).

I think that wraps up my board modifications for now, on to the main site..

*sigh*..

I've fixed the other styles.

I don't think I'll be keeping icicle around too long, I don't really like it (or the way it's done). The other two I like.. Hope 'icicle' isn't your favorite. :)
