Tell buddies about a new AIM Screen Name

I dont know exactly how (or even if its possible) to do this...
If anyone thinks of something specific on how to do this post, I'm trying to think of something but I got nothing.

Step 1) email all of your close friends and tell them.

Step 2) keep your old name up and running with an away message that says your new name

Step 3) talk to everyone on your new name

the thing is i know there are people on my buddy list that dont have me on theirs (this is were i favor MSN over AIM)
but the 1st and 3rd options were what im going to do...

If they don't have the old you on their list, why do you want the new you on their list? :)

Seriously though, I would export your old buddy list to a file and import it on your new screenname, and then send a message to everyone as you see them online ... or just mass email all your friends and tell them about your new name.

The only way AIM could send out the information you want to send out would be to add a whole slew of features we've been discussing here (Mass Messaging, Offline Messaging, etc.) ... I would stick with 1 and 3 for now :).

When I changed my SN I kept up a away msg that said so, and transfared my buddy list to my new one. Also telling people you have changed SNs, or what I love is to IM people on the new SN and they have no clue who they are talking to.
