AIM / AIM+ illegal operation?

Post by fuuucckkers »

Not sure if its been talked about..but im on 98SE. (used to be win2k)
And every time I go to close out AIM, I get that damn illegal operation error box poping up at me..

I know it has to be because im using AIM+ along with AIM. When I use AIM just by itself, I never get this error.

AIM version: 4.8.2790
AIM+ versioon: 2.2.1 build 65

maybe you all or maybe Mark or Ryan can figure out why it is doing this?? Maybe create a workaround to prevent the errors or something?

EDIT : If I remember correctly from one of my computer courses I took a while back, that memory location it gives "0000:11481000" is the device or hardware thats causing the problem... now only to figure out what that means....

..::: error details :::..
AIM caused an invalid page fault in

In a perfect world, this would only happen if AIM+ didn't hook/unhook AIM properly. But since we know it does, the problem likely stems from the poor memory management of Win98 (yes, poorer than Win95).

it's not just win98se

I'm on XP SP1 and i get the same problem. i'm on a LAN at school so i hardly ever shut down aim, but everytime i do, i get that error message twice (i actively use two screennames so i always have a clone open). so i'd have to say it's not just a win98 issue...
