Sign on as away

I don't think this has been requested, but I think it would be nice to be able to set an away message and sign on in an away state. It's currently possible, but not user-friendly. As is, you have to set your away message, disconnect from your internet service, wait until AIM realizes it's disconnected and tries to reconnect, cancel the reconnect, reestablish your internet connection, then sign on with the screen name you want to sign on as away. As you can see it's a pain.

Why can't you just sign in and immediately put up an away message?

hey, i think shamas has sumthin...... cause when you click on an internal link when your AIM isnt loaded, it opens AIM and signs on and instantly does what the link does.

So yeah..... just make a shortcut and put it on your desktop as the away message link.

:D

So... in reality.. couldn't you just make a clickable "option" button to have that URL link ....and select the away message of your choice?? That way, you just sign on as normal.. and then it would put it up for you..

Or am I missing something, wouldn't that work ??

wasted mind i think you are right with this but what plasma is saying is when you click an aim link aim will load and load that link

I didn't realize this was anything new ? :-? ? I've been doing that for a while now. When I go out of town for more than a day I'll set my windows login to login automatically and I make a shortcut to a batch file to load aim with an away message on startup. That way just in case the power goes out or something AIM will start back up with an away message...

As to configuring that into the program itself, it should be hard. Just add a new checkbox in the prefs and a drop down for you to choose the away message to load on startup, then store that either in the registry or in a local config file and have aim+ read it when it starts up and put up the proper away message (or lack there of) accordingly.
