Wow..

In accordance with standard procedure, MySQL crashed yesterday under a very slightly increased (but not at all unusual) load. Unfortunately, in the process, it ate some tables from our database (it doesn't do this every time, but this is also a common occurrance).

The disturbing part came today, when we got the site up and running again this afternoon; Not only was the database beyond my ability to repair, but my last successful backup was shockingly old. Mark almost certainly has a recent one, but he hasn't been around.

The happy ending, however, comes from the great folks at Choopa. These guys are the best I've ever worked with -- they simply took care of it.

So we're back, up and running with no data loss. Sorry for the downtime, and enjoy the forums (I know I missed them :) ).

So, sorry for the downtime, but i

I'm glad the forums are back up and running. I wasn't too concerned considering this sort of thing happened before...but I am glad that no data has been lost.

Hey Ryan, did you PM sometime last night / today?

I went to PM you, to inform you the boards went down.. just before they did. (Only that the threads had an error, then the whole site crashed). I checked my email, it says I got a new PM message.. but I have no new ones..

Did I lose it ? or what ?

I didn't get your message until just now, so I didn't PM you last night.

That's all I really know -- it's possible that something that was being done right as MySQL crashed got lost, or half-done.

I'm quite used to mySQL freaking out at least once a month (kind of like a girl) so it doesn't really surprise me anymore lol. I just wait a day or two and things are back up and going.

You know what? Nevermind to that question.. heh. I just checked the email again, and it was dated January 4 (Saturday).
But that is sort of weird that the email became 'Unread' again. Cause I just checked my email yesterday.... oh well. Thanks for replying to me so promptly! :D

Here is the infamous message:
Holy Crap!
MySQL ate our database!
and it's not even a release day!
Seriously, it's a mess. I hope we can get things straightened out tonight.
