automatic (forced) updating of my AIM profile

Post by room_rodg »

I am wondering how I might go about making an add-on for AIM. For instance, I want to make something that will allow automatic (forced) updating of my AIM profile. What do I need to know/do in order to accomplish this...as well as making any other changes to the AIM client? I would greatly appreciate any help that could be offered. Thanks.

You have to know how to program of course. VB is okay, but C++ is better. What do you mean by "forced" updating of your profile?

I think he means he wants to update it at a certain time with certain stuff inside it. Just a guess though :?:

Well, I know that you can manually modify your info.htm file to update your profile. However, the update doesn't take effect until you either relogin to AIM or use the Edit Profile feature. I want to be able to able to simply update my profile file and then have the change in my profile take place without doing either of the previously mentioned things. This is all being done in hope that I can eventually update my AIM profile with the currently playing song in WinAmp.

I'm familiar with all the basics of C++...what would involved in making something to do this? Thanks.

I do not use C++, so this is just throwing out of ideas, but if you update the info.htm through your program, and then have your program quickly go through the "Edit profile" screens just having it click next every time it sees a screen with the title of that window.
