Slurp

Post by insomica »

Slurp just came to my website.
http://www.inktomi.com/slurp.html
Does anyone know how it would have got to my website?
Does this mean more people will come to my site now?
It took a few hours to go to all my pages.
from 10:55pm - May 09 to 7:40am - May 10. I think it is a little slow. LOL

possibly. It only means that they've spidered your Website, and added you to their listing of searches.

Now if anyone uses Inktomi, MSN, Hobot.. you'll show up in the top listings most likely. (that is if someone searches for your META keywords).

You should goto Google, and have them index your page as well. It's very helpful if you're looking for traffic. :)

Not really because to be honest I never noticed the attack until way after it was too late (I noticed the odd search that led to my site but just passed it off as odd).

I then later was links that led people to my site, and found a what I would call a show off site. I created a thread in my admin section of my site, and called it fake (because at the time I still had not seen any damage other then a mirror image)... Well Matt told me he saw it almost as soon as it was put on the site and took care of it.... I then contacted my host and such just as a pre caution (in case it was his problem which I doubted).

So it was just a stupid exploit in the PHP-Nuke system, and nothing to worry about (I did switch back to phpBB before I knew this happened so...).

Yea...thats one of my major flaws...doing things without informing the admin ;).

I wouldn't say that I took care of it as SOON as I saw it...but I would have if we weren't moving the website. I took care of it within 48 hours, though.
