Auto-Ignore/Permanent Ignore
ok my next idea! i think u should add a feature that automatically ignores scrollers, and can permanently ignore porn bots, ad bots and other annoying people that u wont ever want to talk to. often many of the same bots are in the chat rooms, so this way u wouldnt have to go threw ur list and ignore them all everytime u enter. maybe there can be a list file that includes all the people u want permanently ignored and then when u enter a chat room, aim+ can automatically ignore them for u. in addition, it would be great to have a wildcard type of thing. for example, lets say theres a bunch of porn bots named pornbot1245, pornbot5429, pornbot3502 ect. instead of having to permanently ignore each of them, u could be able to ignore just "pornbot*" or "pornbot****" and then every screen name beginning with "pornbot" would be blocked! this would be great for those bots that change screen names every once in a while.
in the meantime, ive discovered a trick to permanently ignore people. just add their screen name to ur block list. however, u have to keep "Block the users below" checked in the privacy preferences. only downside to this is that u get all those random people IMing u, asking "asl"!
by the way, if anyone has a site and they wanna add that to the list of tricks, just gimme props plz!! thanx
i got some more ideas ill be posting later.. peace

This might be feasible, I'll have to look into it a bit..
You said (in reference to your trick) that blocking users results in getting random people IMing, how so?
I don't use the 'block' feature much, nor the 'ignore', or even chatrooms! I need to play with them all a bit more to get a better idea about this stuff..

well when ur in the chat rooms u usually get people IMing u asking "asl?". it gets kinda annoying after a while so i usually set my privacy to only accept IMs from people on my list. that way i can talk to the people i want to without having strangers from the chat room IMing me. however, if u set ur privacy to this, then aim doesnt keep people on ignore for more than a few hours. u have to have "Block the users below" selected and have the people on this list for them to be kept on ignore.

In the AIM privacy settings, if you have checked "Allow only users on my Buddy List" under the "Who can contact me" options, that will block everyone who is not on your buddy list, and it will not go away after a few hours. They will not be able to send you messages or even see that you are online. AIM will return a "user unavailable" message to others.
If you switch and start blocking specific users, the above setting will be over-ridden by your new privacy setting.
