Manage Away Messages in Registry

I don't remember what thread this came up in, but I have a program that will let you copy away messages from one user to another and delete away messages from the registry. All the dependency files make for a rather large install package (~3 megs). I don't want to post it here and use too much server space. If someone wants to host it, let me know. Otherwise, IM me or email me if you want it. You can post your *.sms files (generated by the prog) in this thread. I have provided a sample using messages from AwayMessages.com.

It would be REALLY cool if Big-O allowed .sms extensions for attachments, but since they didn't you have to zip them first. Or use winrar...

The program's file is just the EXE, not the installer. When it runs, it automatically associates itself with sms files. If you move the EXE, the association wont work until you run the program again. I'm looking for a free host that will allow large files (2+ MB) so I can update it myself.

It looks like a problem with your AIM client. I recieved the correct away message when I IMed you.

I emailed the installer to Big-O and Ryan says they'll host it here. I suppose that means they'll post a link in this thread saying where to get it.

Hmm...I haven't heard back from Big-O yet, so I dunno if they've done anything with the prog or not. I had forgotten to include a file in the zip I distributed (setup.lst). I emailed that to Big-O in a separate email. Everyone else I sent the prog to does not have this file. I'll post its contents here. Save it as SETUP.LST in the same directory where you extracted Setup.exe and the .CAB file.

Ok...there were a few bugs in the prog. I fixed them. This attachment contains the EXE only. If you don't have the required files, then wait for Big-O to post it.

Edit: See above for new version.

Ooh...I had an idea (from another recent post). I should make it so you can save away messages to a file and retrieve them on another computer, then add them to that one! Then of course I could build some files with popular away messages to use.

Yea, You should combine your history viewer and this and add different categories of pre-programmed messages, but that could get a little messy... :-?

This is in my history viewer, but a little different...

History->Find Away Messages...

Let it search, then click Save

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Custom file type implemented! I'll attach it to the top!

Wha...you never reported the error! You're supposed to report errors. How else am I supposed to fix them if I don't know they're there?

Yes I did.

It is when I Go to The Advanced Dialog and when I Search For Away Messages.

Why does your program thingy drop an html file called 'merged' ?
I never even made changes, and it left a file sitting around...

Also.. Running Windows 98

Yea this happens to me to. When I close the program it says I edited files then puts it into my .zip file.

Merged.htm is the file that is displayed in the preview pane to show what the away message looks like. One of the errors in the original version I posted was that I mistyped the path for that file and it saved it as "C:\Merged.htm" as a fallback location, so some of you might have Merged.htm in your roots.
