why does an aim profile only stay on the computer that it was created on?

Because it is stored as a file called "info.htm" on the hard drive of the computer it was created on. Unlike many other AIM functions (such as buddy lists and buddy icons), it is not uploaded and stored permanently on AOL's servers.

they should save buddy profiles to aol servers.

I actually like having diffrent profiles at diffrent locations...

Like for example:

At my Aunt's house it says such (So people don't expect me to be at the computer nearly as much as I am at home)

Also my profiles tend to have something to do with the location... Like the 100 degree pool I jumped in... Thinking it was more like 75...

I also like the different profiles. Its very useful when at different locations.
