AIM Proxies

Post by Master Jedi »

I'm looking for an AIM proxy that logs (kind of like GoodAIM), except I want it to log the EXACT HTML content of the IM windows. (i.e. it logs just like AIM+).

Reason: I have always hated AIM (seriously). Everyone I know uses it. I hated trillian too (because of the skins), until a few days ago when I found a skin that makes it look almost unskinned. The only thing stopping me from using trillian now is the crappy text-only logging. I want some kind of logging that I can easily adapt my history viewer to work with. (Also, trillian consolidates my MSN buddies with my AIM buddies which is a plus with regard to system resources)

Good news: I wouldn't stop working on my history viewer if my life depended on it, so don't worry that I'd abandon you guys. I love Big-O too much for that.

I believe DeadAIM does that pretty well it just not in real time (on of the big reason I will not use it I like my real time logging). My friend swears by it. but then again he is using XP so he can run it.

Just a though.. couldn't you just download one of those keyboard typing loggers?
The ones used to spy on your spouse/significant other?
(hopefully you know what im talking about)

You Would Think Somebody would already have something like this, if I understand what you mean, but I have never seen or heard of one.

No I Think He wants an Actual Proxy that logs them for him and Mark Has repeatedly said that he is not ginivd Out the Source Code, so that is not an option.

Yeah...I'm looking for a proxy (like GoodAIM). I'm fairly certain that the IM windows in trillian have different code content than AIM windows; however, since trillian is connecting to the AIM servers, the packets sent must be of the same general format as those sent by the AIM client. I would write the program myself, but VB Learning Edition doesn't allow programs to have network access or internet access without the use of special controls.

If someone put the right contorls in for you and then emailed you the .vbs would it work?

I doubt it... Since VB5 can't even open a VB6 file.

No, you'd have to make another control that encapsulates the required stuff (a big mess).

The only control you would need is MSWinsock.ocx.
and VB5 does open VB6 projects , you just have to edit the project file and change the version number to 6.0.

No...

Because he wasted 10 weeks learning the program him self... This is a class they want to kill off, but have not for whatever reason, so they hire this guy....

Oh well, I'm got a easy 100 question final on VB (35 T/F, and the rest mutiple choice, and the rest mutiple choice), and a final program using C++ (Um... We didn't get through even the second chapter so... Ya that will be cake). Granted it was the classes fault that we didn't get to C++ until like 3 days ago...
