Here's another piece of software that I've been using for less than a day, but has really impressed me.

If you regularly travel or use computers in more than once place (work & home/school, for example), you should definitely be checking this out. It gives you one combined view of your entire media collection (all the stuff from all the computers you use).

It's very easy to use, seems to handle big loads (25,000+ files) with relative quickness. It works behind firewalls, and can downsample the music if your broadband's upstream isn't so hot. You can view/play your stuff from the web, or right inside Winamp's media library (I didn't even know Winamp2 had a media library -- neat!).

I haven't had a hitch all night, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it serves me this coming work week..

It won't work for sharing music between two people.

It's designed to give you access to your music from anywhere. Only one person can be listening to music from a collection at a time. So, two/more people can't pool their music together very effectively at all.

I'd like to have my music shared for all my friends to listen to, also -- but my internet connection isn't hearty enough for that, anyway.

...is it free?

Cuz I got a HUGE MP3 collection that I wouldn't mind accessing from anywhere.

They added the Media library when they finally got around to updating to 2.90.

Also.. is this only for MP3 access ?? or is this so you can access your computer from anywhere?

Cause there is another great program called PC Anywhere, which allows you to access and retrieve any file.. just as the title of the program implies.

update -- It seems that Symentec bought out the company which used to create PcAnywhere.. Well, you can still find it here:

Muse.net isn't free -- it's 20$/yr.

It is also just for audio and video files.
