Insulting you doesn't make me feel good. It makes me feel awful that I share the internet with someone like you.

And remember, I was a registered member here before I was at jdennis, and I was a registered member here before you were.

Wait I just read your last sentence...I sure as hell insult people there.

There's some douche named Rashad who needs to go hump some camels, a person who has a transformers name (Optimius Prime or some stupid thing) who types almost as bad as you, maybe even worse, and some other idiot who I can't even remember.

The best is some douche named Godzirra, just look at this thread http://www.jdennis.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3519

I am a paid programmer. Which means I make my income from designing and coding programs, specifically database applications. Yes, this country is a pseudo-Capitalist economy (I have heard before that we aren't a pure Capitalist as Timelessblur has stated, but I can't recollect the reason), but things are starting to get carried away.

If anyone here is really a programmer and gets paid for it, then they are very aware and afraid of the growing trend in this country. They our offshoring the programming work to such lower cost-of-living countries as India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. They are doing it because they can pay someone there $20K a year for what we get paid $60-80K. It has been predicted that by 2010 a good majority of IT services (programming, support, etc) will be offshored.

This trend isn't isolated to the IT industry. It is happening in other industries but isn't as prominant as in IT. If this trend continues, Capitalism will turn the US into a country of large, goliath companies whose non-exective management staff aren't even in this country and if they are, they are on some limited visa and don't pay taxes. That means we are going to have a lot of people living in cardboard boxes or going back to an agricultural lifestyle.

I don't know about you, but I could easily see people getting pissed and developing nationalistic tendencies and hate-mongering like was displayed in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York

Don't call me a Communist, Socialist, Nazi, or Fascist because I don't agree with how the government as given more and more consideration to big business and special interests. I am making every effort to become financially independent and take care of my family, but I don't appreciate the gov't making it more difficult for me by taking my livelihood away.

I feel sorry for those of you too young to remember the 70's and early 80's. Those were some lean times. People lost everything in the crunch and that one hardly scratched the surface of pre-WWII. It is coming again and we can blame compaines like AOL, M$, HP, IBM, and other giant companies for ushering the way.

The reason why we are not pure capitism is we still have the goverment taking care of some stuff for us like our roads, public parks, untilties, Medicare and medicade, unemployment. education and other stuff like that in a pure capitsim the markent would determain all of that stuff.

Axilla, Timeless, back to your respective corners. "Do unto others as others do unto you." There will be no more bashing of each other here. We're a happy family. :)

A slightly dysfunctional family, but a happy one...lol

No it doesn't. It just makes them people who don't agree with the system. And from the way you talk, you give other programmers a bad name. I'm glad I don't know a damn thing about programming--because if I did, I'd be the only one with morals out there.

At least I'm not a hipocrite. Please go and crawl back into your hole. You're not proving your intelligence by attempting to insult me one bit.
I haven't attempted to insult you. Im just trying to get the point across that your wrong, theres nothing personal about it. Nor am I attempting to "prove" my intelligence, I really could care less how smart you think I am.

Second. The way I talk? Only in this thread have I talked this way. And thats only because I got mad at you. Also, for another point on what you said in that sentence, you cannot judge a whole group of people on one individual, no one person can give any group a bad name. A group is made up of very different individuals and when you try to categorize them as you just did, you show your ignorance.

And thirdly, If you dont believe in the capitalistic system, and you aren't a socialist, then what economic system do you believe in.... The barter system? There aren't a whole lot of other economic systems out there.

The reason I don't like you. You say things but you dont say anything intelligent. If you want me to believe you or atleast accept your opinion (and yes, Ill accept it, I may not agree with it, but if you explain it, and it makes sence, ill accept it) Then I challenge you to write me a post, PM, Email, Instant Message or whatever you want and explain your beliefs.

J3utton,

Just like a religion, you don't have to believe whole-hearteldy in a way an economic system is being used. There are Catholics, Protestants, Baptists, Latter-Day Saints, and other Christian religions. They all believe in Jesus Christ, but they don't necessarily hold the same tenants.

You can claim to be a Capitalist but not hold the same ideals and beliefs about Capitalism as the guy sitting next to you. The beauty about Capitalism is that it can be manipulated to meet your needs. Unfortunately, if you hold great power and influence, your manipulations can have drastic effects on those around you that don't neccessarily believe in your "vision" of Capitalism. To use the religion metaphor again, think of the Catholic Church. In the dark ages, they were like the Borg, "Prepare to be assimulated." You either joined them or died in resistance.

Thank you Ray. I couldntve said it better myself.

And on to my reply...
J3utton wrote:I haven't attempted to insult you Im just trying to get the point across that your wrong, theres nothing personal about it.
Don't force your beliefs on others. People tend to not like you by doing that. Do you want Johovah's Witnesses knocking on your door telling you you must convert of face the Wrath of God?
J3utton wrote:Nor am I attempting to "prove" my intelligence, I really could care less how smart you think I am.
.....
J3utton wrote:Only in this thread have I talked this way. And thats only because I got mad at you.
Dually noted.
J3utton wrote:Also, for another point on what you said in that sentence, you cannot judge a whole group of people on one individual, no one person can give any group a bad name.
First impressions mean everything. Once that first impression has been established, you're branded with it forever.
J3utton wrote:A group is made up of very different individuals and when you try to categorize them as you just did, you show your ignorance.
See above.
J3utton wrote:And thirdly, If you dont believe in the capitalistic system, and you aren't a socialist, then what economic system do you believe in.... The barter system? There aren't a whole lot of other economic systems out there.
See what Ray said.

J3utton wrote:The reason I don't like you.
Uh oh--here comes the big insult..
J3utton wrote:You say things but you dont say anything intelligent.
That's because you're not abosorbing anything I've said. Stop looking at the world through your rose-colored glasses and absorb the big picture. The whole purpose of living life is to look at the big picture, and not be so narrow minded about things. What might be good for a short run will cost you drastically in the long run--only because you didn't look at the bigger picture. If you really are a programmer like you claim to be, you of all people should be aware of the bigger picture--your job could depend on it.

If I had time, I would accept this "challenge." I am however, a very busy person with a life outside of this little box on the floor, so I have to decline to your "challenge."

Good attempt though..almost made me think about what to say.

Can we have an admin or moderator change the topic from "DeadAIM becoming part of AIM 6.0 ?" to "redundant, pointless arguing" and move the thread to the 'Totally Off-Topic/Totally Off-Topic' forum? I'm pretty sure this thread would stay within the TV-G restriction, let alone the TV-14 restriciton enforced at Totally Off-Topic. Can you then start a new thread for, oh I don't know, "DeadAIM becoming part of AIM 6.0 ?"?

sounds like a plan to me :D

So, does anybody have any ideas on the release period of AIM6? I was also thinking about the merger today and it's interesting. I'm starting to think that what AOL plans on doing is offering DeadAIM up for sale on its own. If there is going to be a link to download DeadAIM on the aim.com website, that doesn't sound to me like it will be incorporated into AIM itself. Maybe they just plan on selling DeadAIM as an AOL add-on product? Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
