AIM 5.5.3415 Beta Released

Post by DADINK13 »

Doesn't look all that special to me. Looks bloated. Yay. However, AOL did add MSN-style alerts to it, as well as the ability to foward IMs to your cell phone when you put up an away message.

Oh I get it... With only one currently being updated AIM add-on client they add yet another thing people are going to want removed... Save your ad dollars by buying out a company.

I haven't downloaded it--and I don't want too. But I am at least hoping that it's more stable then the last "final" build of AIM..

It also comes bundled with SpyWare. WildTangent is a pain in the butt to get removed from your computer. WildTangent is the developer of the "games" that are bundled with this release.

Plus, I saw a screen shot of the b/l on BetaNews and it looks really cluttered with buttons and stuff people will want removed. The actual b/l itself is so tiny from all the space devoted to stuff like ads

Yeah, I found that immediately when my firewall said WildTangent was trying to run. I immediately hit deny.

You can remove WildTangent with Spybot S&D quite easily. http://security.kolla.de

Also immediately after installing Ad-Aware found the VX2.BetterInternet .

WHAT ARE THEY DOING?? All that just for some games.

So just to get the MSN-style alerts, you have to deal with a Buddy List window that has no real usable space to see your buddies, spyware, and stupid games that you won't play?

Not worth downloading.

god the new AIM beta is sounding worse and worse. I had to use Adware to get GAIM off my comptuer because it was forced down my though when I installed the DivX codecs (which is pretty much neccesy now days). I firewalled the program the had it removed.

Speaking of wich will adware remove the AIM spyware from you computer

Ad-aware is a life-saver..

..too bad it'll disable KaZaA if you're not careful--but that's besides the point.
