When I was in school (college), they had the entire wireless network behind a proxy/firewall.

I figured a way around it just by entering the Proxy information for our network into the Connection properties inside AIM.

I wouldn't say you figured out a way around it... After all... That's just how it's supposed to be right?

Your work may have the port AIM uses blocked. In that case there is no way around it. Like you said though use a proxy. That should work.

- www.kazaalite.tk has a good site under their links section for proxys.

You can change the port you use to connect to the AIM server. The AIM server accepts connections on port 5190 (default), but you can set it to port 80 (HTTP). AIM will work just fine. Some firewalls will block unrecognized HTTP traffic though, so that might not help.
