php or perl http/web aim client ?

has anyone ever seen a web page that could log into aim, and send and recoeve messages? I want to set something like this up for my friends who are behind strict firewalls. if you have any info about doing this i would like to hear about it.

BTW if you are intrested beyond AIM Express the protocal that it uses is open source.

aim express is a java app that uses direct connections, which are not through http or the browser. im talking about an application that runs on a server and interacts with the user via a web page, by POST.

no such web application exists as far as i know. look at what anthony said. TIC/TOC is open source. you can write your own.

check AIM express again...you'll see it's no longer java. at least i dont think.

u could right a perl program to do that wiht the Net::AIM module but it would take a long time
